Ask what the Design Pressure rating is and also what the Air Infiltration and Water Penetration rating is. Also ask what the U factor and Solar Heat Gain is. Who did the testing? Was it the manufacturer or NFRC for the U factor and SHGC and AAMA for the structural rating?

Open and close the window and tilt the sashes in a few times. Does the operation seem smooth? Rock the sash from side to side when the window is halfway open. How much play is there?

Ask to see a better grade of window and ask what the better grade has that the one you are looking at doesn’t have. What is different about the two?”

“FAS Windows and Doors are not the way to go to replace windows if you want your order to be right the first time with good installation. I ordered 4 Wincore tempered low e glass windows from FAS. They did not deliver what I ordered. They installed the wrong windows then refused to fix the problem and wanted full payment for the botched job. after much agonizing negotitiations they finally said to keep the windows without paying or warranty because the windows had failed city inspection. However they then renigged on that deal and filed a contruction lien!!

Bottom Line: FAS stands for father and son. How can that be a bad thing? I am a sucker for family businesses.

We found many reviews for FAS and only two of them were bad. The others were glowing. No company can be perfect all the time and mistakes happen. We are not excusing it, but you have to look at the overall reputation and FAS seems to have earned a fairly good one.

Bottom Line: Window World is a national company with locations throughout The United States and beyond. Since these locations are apparently franchises, no single review could apply to all of them. It is probably best to find some local residents that have personal experience with your local franchise.

It’s interesting to note that there is a website dedicated to angry consumers and Window World has a sub-domain on that site all to themselves. Of course, that isn’t something we would put on our roadside billboard.

Bottom Line: I’m afraid we aren’t much help on this one. We could only find two reviews, one good, one bad. There are several positive reviews on their website and they had to have come from somewhere, but I doubt that they would include any bad ones.
